(GAL) CAFETERÍA. MUSEO CENTRO GAIÁS
This book was originally a blog written during the summer of 2010 by the artist and choreographer Màrte Spànberg, who kept a community of artists related to dance and performances attentive every morning to the next post. Similar to a home-made HBO series, where the world of dance, the collective and individual positions of the artists (the modes of production, the economies and the thought underlying the decisions of all the agents) were counted in a sort of immediate writing that turned everything upside down.
The book was translated by the artists María Jerez and Alejandra Pombo (Santiago de Compostela, 1979) from the original in English. Taking as a starting point that the act of translating is an act of co-authorship, María Jerez and Alejandra Pombo adopt the position of letting themselves become possessed by the text: an incarnated dubbing, where they are transformed by the voice of the original text transforming it at the same time, thus finding a fourth voice, with a specific tone, that arises from the experience of translation itself.
The translation of this book has been possible thanks to the collaboration of the Library of the School of Fine Arts of the UCM and the Master’s Degree in Performing Arts Practices and Visual Culture from the UCLM.
