LA CURA

Julio César Iglesias Ungo, Incolballet, Compañía Colombiana de Danza Contemporánea

Saturday 9 May 21h
Cidade da Cultura | Museo Centro Gaiás, sala 1

La Cura is a dance piece built upon the understanding that every process of change, transformation and rebirth involves a force that may appear violent, yet is essentially natural. Just as volcanoes shape the earth or birth occurs through pain and blood, life manifests in a constant balance between chaos and order.

The piece reveals that healing and reconnecting with our essence are neither gentle nor linear paths, but experiences of rupture and inner upheaval that compel us to confront the rawest aspects of ourselves. Transformation is not idealised; it is exposed in its entirety: struggle, fracture, resistance, and also the beauty that emerges through surrender. It is a journey in which the body becomes a territory of tension between wound and healing, inviting the audience not merely to observe, but to feel within themselves this profound and visceral passage.

INCOLBALLET.- The Colombian Institute of Classical Ballet, based in Valle del Cauca, is a national leader in artistic dance education. Its work is structured around three core areas: training, artistic production and outreach. The presence of its professional ballet and contemporary dance companies complements the educational cycle, inspiring students and the wider community through the works presented each season and cultivating audiences who recognise the artistic value of dance, its social function and the peaceful, multicultural fabric that shapes its identity.
