Workshop, conference, story about life and a fleeting exhibition: Julio Fer’s workshop is all this. In it, those attending will be able to intervene poetically in the matches (without heads) provided by the performer, following the brief instructions that will be given at the start of the session.
As the participants focus on their (un)productive work of writing, they will hear the performer explain all the theoretical possibilities and practices that poetry has in matches (and matchboxes), trying not to lose their concentration.
The event is an act of sincerity, in the sense that the performer has really been investigating all his life the possibilities of this simple inflammable object.
At the end of the workshop, those attending and the performer will share experiences; and the poems created can be burnt at the same time. Also, the participants will be able to look at all the objects about which the performer speaks in his talk, and many others not mentioned (around 40 different boxes and many individual poems).
Julio Fernández Peláez
He has a PhD in Literary, Linguistic and Theatrical Studies from the University of Alcalá. Since 1989 he has been working in performance art and the contemporary stage, in partnership with a number of companies, and founding others: La Fragua Verde, Inaudita.org and Anómico Teatro. His latest works as theatrical creator were Cartas de amor a los árboles, Mer o lo invisible and Paisajes de extinción. He has published around twenty books of poetry, plays and novels, including: Sembraré recuerdo and Efímera incandescencia.
Among the awards he has received are the City of Badajoz International Experimental Poetry Award and the Teatro x Award for Justice (Buenos Aires). From 2009 to 2011 he directed the Poetics for Life festival. For a number of years he has also promoted the theatrical and performing arts magazine NÚA, and is currently head of the publisher Ediciones Invasoras.
